1. New key 8 test function for Li-Po/Li-Fe

Press and hold key 8 to start pack test

Pro-Trak will ramp the charge current to that set for charging but with a maximum of 5 amps.

i.e. if charge current is set for 3 amps the current is ramped to 3 amps, if the charge current is set for more than 5 amps Pro-Trak will ramp to 5 amps.

Pro-Trak displays the pack voltage charge current and calculated charge state

If the charge state is less than 100% then Pro-Trak will indicate the
pack is not charged.

If voltage cut-off is set to > 8.4 volts then the following rule is applied.

If the current reaches the programmed charge current before the pack reaches the voltage cut-off, the pack is considered not charged.

The recommended voltage cut-off is 8.4 volts for 2 Li-Po cells.

If the charge state is equal to or more than 100% the pack is considered
charged and Pack Charged is displayed.

If voltage cut-off is set to > 8.4 volts then the following rule is applied.

If charge current reaches the programmed voltage cut-off  before the charge current is reached the pack is considered charged.

The recommended voltage cut-off is 8.4 volts for 2 Li-Po cells.

If the remote lead is fitted the display will show the charge state of the pack and each cell

If the charge state is less than 100% then Pro-Trak will indicate the pack is not charged.

If the charge state is equal to or more than 100% the pack is considered
charged and Pack Charged is displayed

If voltage cut-off is set to > 8.4 volts then the following rule is applied.

If charge current reaches the programmed voltage cut-off  before the charge current is reached the pack is considered charged.

The recommended voltage cut-off is 8.4 volts for 2 Li-Po cells.

2. New Charge routine (Back to Top)

Press key 0 to go through the charge menu to start charge
or Press and hold key 1 to start charge.

Pro-Trak goes through the procedure described above to determine the charge state of the pack.  If the charge state is equal to or more than 100% the pack is considered charged and charge is aborted.  If the charge state is less than 100% then charge is commenced.

During the checking stage Pro-Trak automatically determines the number of cells to charge and the state of charge. If charge is to be commenced then Pro-Trak displays the charge details. The display shows:-

CCCV Constant current constant voltage charge
L           Linear charge ( charge type can be changed in setup menu*)
8.40Po  Charging to 8.4 volts   Cell type Li-Po**
Cells 2   Number of cells to charge
5.00 A   Charge current 5.00 amps

*    Charge type can be changed to Soft Pulse, Hard Pulse ,Linear or Re-Pulse.
**  Uses charge parameters for cell type displayed.

Only linear charge is recommended for Lithium cells

The main charge screen is then displayed.

13.25   Input supply from power unit.
7.44     Pack volts
8.40     Voltage to charge to before going to constant voltage charge.
00:26   Charge time
5.00     Charge current
18        Charge capacity

If the remote lead is not fitted pressing key 1 will toggle between input supply and pack charge state.

From this screen you can press key 4 to go to the view menu to display further information on the pack and cells if the remote lead is connected. To get back to this main screen press key 4 again

If the remote lead is fitted to the center tap of the pack the top right display shows the difference in voltage between the 2 cells. If the difference in voltage is more than 0.05 a audible warning is given every 60 seconds.
The default value of 0.05 can be changed in the set-up menu under Set Li Warn.

You can also change:-
1. The volume of the warning .
2. Terminate charge should the difference be > programmed voltage.

Note:  The supply voltage can not be displayed when the remote lead is fitted,
therefore the pack charge state is displayed in it's place and key 1 will
            not toggle the display.

3. Displayed information after charge complete. (Back to Top)
When charge is complete the display opposite is shown.

Pro-Trak displays the total input capacity

If "display 3 stages"* is set to YES this display and the following 2 stages are shown.

1. Under 8.40v   is the capacity put in when the pack reached 8.40 volts
2. Under 2.0A    is the capacity put in from reaching 8.40 volts to the
                          current  falling to 2.0A**
3. Under 1.0       is the capacity put in from 2.0A to the cutoff current
                           of 1.0A

*    This is programmed to YES or NO in the set-up menu under
      Set test Amps.
**  This is a programmed current between the charge amps and the cut-off
       amps.

This display indicates that only 90mA was put into the pack between 2 amps and the cut-off  of 1A.  Therefore a low cut-off current is not necessary!!

The 2nd screen shows the percentage of the total charge put in between the 3 stages

The 3rd screen shows the time at each stage.

This screen displays the total time taken to charge the pack.

Press key 7 to return to the Main Menu

Main Menu.

4. Program Charge Current and Cut-off amps (Back to Top)

When main menu is displayed press key 5 to set the charge current.

Scroll the current up using the # key and down using the * key.

Pro-Trak can be programmed to charge at 12 amps, however charging a single li-pi or li-fe cell will consume a lot of power. Pro-Trak is limited to 120 watts of power. While charging Pro-Trak monitors the wattage and will adjust the charge current to achieve the maximum charge current without exceeding 120 watts.!!

After setting the charge current the cut-off current is programmed.

Scroll the current up using the # key and down using the * key.

5. Program Voltage cut-off (Back to Top)

When the main Menu is displayed press key 1 to set voltage cutoff

Set the voltage cutoff for single cell

Scroll the voltage up or down using # and * keys

Press key 0 to step to next screen.

* indicates preferred value

Set the voltage cutoff for two cells

Scroll the voltage up or down using # and * keys

Press key 0 to step to accept.

* indicates preferred value

6. Program Test facility (Back to Top)

When in main menu scroll down to Setup using the # key.

Press key 0 to enter setup menu.

The setup menu is displayed.

Use the # key to scroll down to Set Test Amps

Press key 0 to enter menu.

Scroll the Test amps to the required value and press 0.

Test amps is a value between the charge amps and the cutoff amps at which the charge input capacity is recorded. See details in 3 above.

Scroll the display to YES or NO using the # key.

If set to NO the information in 3 above is not displayed.
