Pro-Trak has a battery ( CR1220 ) backed memory which stores the last settings used
Delta volts
Charge current
Backlight (ON or OFF)
Cell and pack calibration figures
Power Fail
Battery life expectancy 1-2 years. (user changeable)
The battery is located on the main printed circuit board next to the 12 volt input wire. To change the battery, remove the 4 outer screws from the front panel and lift the panel up from the bottom edge of the keyboard. The battery is located in a holder next to the 12 volt input wire. Push the battery out of its holder with a jeweler’s screwdriver. Replace the battery and screw the front panel back into place.
Note: make sure before replacing the front panel that the multi connector from the main printer circuit to the rear printed circuit is still securely fitted as tilting the printed circuit may have eased the connector out of it’s socket.
Resetting calibration after memory cleared (required after upgrading to a newer version)
Pro-Trak is designed to be upgradeable by the user (from time to time the program may be upgraded to include new facilities) This is achieved by changing the ROM inside the unit.
When the unit is upgraded the memory has to be cleared by holding down the # key while connecting Pro-Trak to the 12 volt supply. The calibration figures (found in the pocket of the Pro-Trak bag) have to be re-entered into the unit, do this by stepping down to Set-up (press 0) step down to Set Calibration figures (press 0). If Offset 0 = -2 press * key 2 times, if offset = 3 press key # key 3 times, when the correct value is displayed press key 0 to step to Offset 1
i.e. key * reduces the offset, key # increases the offset and key 0 steps to the next value. When all the values are set press key 7 to escape. Note:- offset 1 and offset 26 are automatically set by Pro-Trak so do not need to be set.
The ROM is changed by removing the front panel ( remove the 8 front panel screws) The ROM is the device immediately to the left of the keyboard. The ROM is fitted into a socket and is removed by gently easing each end of it with a small screwdriver. The new ROM is placed onto the socket ( make sure the small half-moon recess on one end of the ROM is nearest to the display) and is carefully pressed into the socket. Ensure the cable from the rear of the PCB has not been dislodged while changing the ROM and replace the front panel. Follow the instruction above to re-calibrate the unit. The unit will work without calibrating but test results while using the remote leads may not be accurate.
If the calibration figures are not available then the
procedures following will have to be used to set the calibration.
Checking calibration
(factory set when dispatched)
There are 3 sets of calibration figures set in Pro-Trak
1. Static calibration (not charging or discharging)
2. Charging calibration (during charge)
3. Discharging calibration (during discharge)
If for any reason you need to check the calibration of Pro-Trak this can be done using an external volt meter as follows : Note: the off-set steps are 0.01 volts (100th of a volt)
Static Calibration ( not charging or discharging)
Connect a pack with remote leads fitted
From the main menu (Charge/Discharge) press key 4
Press key "3" seven times to enter calibrate mode
The display shows the voltage of the pack and the off-set applied.
